Conference Schedule

3 talks at 30mins, +Q&A

The day will feature three short talks (30 mins each), and more than 3 hours of Q&A time.  We’ve devoted most of the time to questions, because we know you have them about homeschooling in NC.

Beginner to Advanced

We can provide insight on homeschool curriculum, schedules, programs, laws and many other areas.  We’ll have a panel of parents with the experience to address your questions – from the complex to the mundane.

Homeschooling – Don’t Worry, You Got This

Practical reasons why homeschooling doesn’t need to be as hard as you expect

Many parents assume that public and private schools have the experience, resources and expertise that make them the only ones competent to teach our children.  The truth is, as parents, you are the ones uniquely qualified to educate your children.  This session will provide truths about education that will alleviate fears and provide a perspective that encourages you to approach homeschooling with confidence.

Setting Goals for Your Homeschool

Thinking through what you would consider success

How do I choose a curriculum? What subjects do I teach?  I haven’t done algebra in over 20 years; how do I teach that?  Don’t let these questions stress you out.  There are plenty of resources to help teach your kids subjects, but more important is determining what you want to achieve.  When they graduate, what will you consider success?

Avoiding Homeschooling Failure

Starting your homeschool on the right track

No classmates to distract them. No friends to fool-around or fight with. Homeschooling will be free of all behavioral issues, right?  Wrong. You can’t just send your child to the principal’s office; you are the principal!  A proper perspective and plan for disobedience and discipline will not only help you maintain your sanity; it will help you be successful.
